Not to be confused with Tyke on a Bike.

Premise

Spike takes His son Tyke on a Nature hike in the forest, but a starving Couger is intending to eat Tyke's Sandwiches.

Synopsis

Spike and Tyke are hiking through the woods for Tyke to take photos for his school project. Tyke's first photo op is a squirrel, who does a dance, and then Tyke gives a carrot to a rabbit, but as he starts feeding the animals more and more show up. This brings the attention of a hungry mountain lion who tries to take advantage of Tyke's generosity. As the Lion tricks Tyke out of three peanut butter sandwiches he makes a quick get away, but is stopped in his tracks when he bumps into an irate Spike, who chastises the Lion for taking advantage of Tyke's "Genie-er-osity". The Lion introduces Himself as Moncy and demands Spike to give the respect that he deserves as King of the Mountain, so as Spike plans to "crown" the lion with his fist, Tyke stops His father as He tells Him that they shouldn't harm any animals in the forest, as the Lion is a Government-protected endangered species and tells Spike to back off. Spike is not happy about this and decides to throw Moncy up into the trees, making the lion to try some Mountain Lion razzle dazzle

As Spike and Tyke continue their trek, the Cougar pops up disguised as a toll guard to try to get more food from Tyke with Spike sending the lion on His way as Tyke was about to give Moncy a tuna sandwich. later, Moncy disguises Himself as a starving explorer, but Spike gives Him a Turkey with a Jack-in-the-Box, inside, and when Moncy ate it, His neck becomes coily. Eventually, Spike rests up on a hammock and lets Tyke roam around a bit to take some more pictures. As Tyke is walks along snapping photos of a butterfly, Moncy creeps up behind him in a tree trunk to try to swipe Tykes' backpack full of food. Spike, not really napping, sees the lion's ploy and drops a beehive inside Moncy's tree trunk, making Him explode into the air screaming. The two dogs head home only to discover that Moncy is sitting in a chair watching Yogi Bear and eating all the food in the house. Spike asks why Moncy's at the house, the lion explains how he loves the father/son relationship of Spike and Tyke and wants to be part of that. Tyke is thrilled to have a live in buddy, but Spike is defeated and must go to the store to refill the fridge for his new, unwanted houseguest, and says it will be one long hot summer as we iris out at the end of the season 2 finale.
